Company History
Back to Main Press Kit Page
The company's founder, Tara Kain, started DogFriendly.com out of necessity.
She loved dogs and loved to travel. In 1990, she began traveling with her large black standard
poodle. But it was hard to find places that allowed dogs, especially a
large dog. Many times it would take her hours of research to plan a
nice weekend or week long getaway. She began to compile a list of
dog-friendly places, not only for herself, but also for other dog
lovers who enjoyed traveling with their best friends.
In June
of 1998, she began DogFriendly.com and focused on listing places that allowed
all well-behaved dogs and lodging that did not restrict pets to
smoking rooms. Today, DogFriendly.com offers
thousands of dog-friendly listings in its FREE
online dog travel guides, as well as in its dog
travel paperback books. Both the web site and the books list
pet-friendly lodging, PLUS pet-friendly attractions,
outdoor restaurants, parks, beaches and retail stores.
