Comments:Follow Fido to Yappy Hour, a monthly cocktail party for canines and their companions held on The Dana Lawn at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Pooches, hounds and pups enjoy complimentary hand-made dog biscuits and lapping up refreshing libations, thanks to bacon, chicken, cheese, beef and liver flavored water, while their companions can purchase burgers, brews and wines. Proceeds from the 2015 Yappy Hour season will go to support the Wounded Veteran Initiative for the Canine Companions for Independence.Dates:May 14th, 2015June 11th, 2015July 9th, 2015August 13th, 2015September 10th, 2015Yappy Howl-O-Ween Thursday, October 29 / 4 to 7 p.m. Canines and their companions are invited for tricks and treats in celebration of Howl-O-Ween. This seasonal Yappy Hour celebration is a chance for pups to strut their stuff in their favorite costume. A panel of judges will determine which canine will take home the prize in the costume categories of Scariest, Funniest, Most Glamorous and, of course, Best in Show. First place prize in each category is a hand-painted dog bowl by Debby Carman of Faux Paws Productions. Cost to enter the costume contest is $10 per canine. Yappy Howl-iday 2015 Sunday, December 6, 2015 / 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa Claus will make a special appearance for the Yappy Howl-iday Celebration. This festive gathering of canines and their companions provides Fido with the opportunity to be photographed with the ?Big Dog? himself ? Santa Claus. In keeping with the resort?s Season of Giving, guests are asked to bring unopened canned or dry dog food, treats or dog toys to be donated to an animal rescue organization.

Sessions are led by a licensed social worker and are open to those ages 10 and up, including pet parents who are considering or preparing for euthanasia. Sessions are usually an hour and a half in length. Reservations are encouraged but not required and can be made on-line or by calling (619) 299-7012, extension 2311.

Popular Harbor Cruise ?Goes to the Dogs? to Benefit the

Helen Woodward Animal Center



On May 16th, Hornblower Cruises & Events will host its 15th annual ?Pet Day on the Bay? to benefit the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC), a local nonprofit that provides care and comfort to orphaned and injured animals. On this special day each year, dogs are welcomed aboard to enjoy a fun-filled harbor cruise with their owners.



Highlights include:



Best Sightseeing on San Diego Bay with Your Dog: These one-hour cruises offer breathtaking views of the San Diego skyline and storied landmarks, as well as a chance to experience delightful marine animals and majestic sea birds up close.



Special Guests: Joining the cruises will be Jagger & Kristi from Magic 92.5 for a fun meet and greet.



Delectable Doggie Treat Bar: A special smorgasbord, sponsored by Petco, will pamper pups throughout the cruise with a variety of mouthwatering treats.



Expert Dog Training Tips: Experts from Petco?s dog training department will share helpful advice and suggestions for dog owners wanting to brush up on their pet handling skills.



Support For HWAC: In addition to the proceeds from ticket sales, passengers are asked to bring sorely needed blankets and towels to further assist HWAC?s animals in need.
