Comments:Dog Park Etiquette and Safety: What would you do? Local animal behaviorist hosts free seminar for pet owners to learn proper dog park etiquette and how to handle difficult encounters with aggressive dogs. What / Why: Off-leash dog parks are popular among Colorado residents during the summer months. However, many pet owners are hesitant to take their dogs to off-leash parks due to possible encounters with aggressive dogs as other dog-owners try to ?socialize? their dogs. Kari Bastyr, MS,CDBC, animal behaviorist and owner of Wag & Train Animal Behavior Specialists, is hosting her first free monthly seminar to discuss dog park etiquette and safety to help dog owners identify the differences between aggressive behavior, rough play, and appropriate play. The seminar will also teach attendees how to handle difficult encounters with aggressive dogs and what to do if they or their pets are involved in an attack by an aggressive dog at an off-leash dog park. When: July 19, 7 p.m. ? 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and beverages will be served. Pet owners are asked not to bring their dogs to the seminar. To prove this myth wrong, Kari Bastyr, MS, CDBC, animal behaviorist and owner of Wag & Train Animal Behavior Specialists, is hosting a free monthly seminar to teach pet owners, and those thinking about adopting a pet, how to select a shelter dog, identify specific behavior problems that are common among shelter dogs and how to handle them so their pets become welcomed members of the family. Attendees looking to adopt shelter dogs will also learn how to select the right type of pet for their lifestyle to ensure the proper match is made. When: Wednesday, August 16, 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and beverages will be served. Pet owners are asked not to bring their dogs to the seminar. Map
Comments:"The purpose is to promote international friendship and peace through kiting and other activities in which the wind serves as a universal symbol of one planet and mankind's symbiotic relationship to nature." The event has 3 Villages: The Pet Village, The Kite Village and The Conservation Village. The Pet Village starts the day with a Pet Parade. The parade will lead into the Pet Village where a number of pet vendors will be available with some valuable pet information. Examples include pet massage & acupuncture, pet training, healthy pet food, adoptions, etc. As a volunteer, My main focus is the Pet Village and is why I'm writing to dogfriendly.com. We feel that pets are a very important part of our lives. Research shows that violence is less prominent in people that learn to care for other living creatures. We also want to educate people in loving their pets through training and discipline rather than violence and negative reinforcement.
