Comments:Join us for an inspiring and affordable weekend filled
with exciting demonstrations and practical ?hands-on'
sessions with your dog that will help you become a
better dog owner, rescue foster or animal professional.

Sam teaches dog lovers how to understand dogs; what
they are and how they think and react to humans and the
world. He shows us how to harness a dog's basic,
natural drives during training. From common bad habits
to the serious problems of human and animal aggression,
Sam teaches solutions that work with all breeds and ages
of dogs. His highly effective method of training is based
on developing mutual trust and respect between dog and
master (so your dog will want to please you). During the
seminar, Sam will also provide techniques for working
with extremely shy dogs as well as address the special
needs of rescue dogs & the role of the foster home in
preparing a dog for adoption.

Sam Malatesta, a master dog trainer with over 25 years
of experience and an international reputation, is in
demand in both the United States and Canada. Sam
began donating his time in an effort to rehabilitate and
re-home dogs for the Toronto Humane Society and the
Ohio Medina County SPCA. His goal is to reduce
euthanasia by helping problem dogs regain their trust in
humanity while helping humans regain their respect for
dogs.

This seminar, a fundraiser for Animal Protection
Association (a not for profit rescue organization located
in Jeffersonville, Indiana), will teach dog owners and
rescue volunteers how to achieve the ultimate humancanine
bond and train without harsh corrections, prong
or choke collars, or clickers. Sam's unique gift of being
a natural teacher makes learning easy, interesting, and
fun for dogs and humans alike.

Comments:The Second Annual Indiana Shiba Picnic will be on August 12, 2006 at
10:00 a.m. at Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis. The park is
nestled along the scenic White River amidst towering shade trees.
We'll have our own shelter with a grill. There's a Dog Park
available for a fee of $2.00. You must present proof of current
inoculations for Rabies, Parvo, Distemper and Bordetella. The park
office is open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for you to fill out
the paperwork and submit payment for the Dog Park. There's also a
swimming pool available for a fee of $1.00 for kids and $2.00 for
adults. This is a beautiful setting for our picnic and the park has
some nice amenities (short hiking trails, bathrooms and a
playground) in addition to the Dog Park and swimming pool--something
for everyone!
If you'd like to help organize the picnic, please email me at
shibapicnic@myway.com. Everyone is welcome to participate in the
planning no matter how small of a contribution you can make. Maybe
you don't want to organize the games for the dogs, but, perhaps, you
can make contact with one company or one person to either provide a
donation to the picnic or a service (such as photography) to the
picnic.
I'm looking forward to this event and I hope you are as well. We'll
do our best to provide some fun activities for you, your family and,
of course, those Curly Tails--the Shibas!
