After the introduction parade, there will be prizes for the oldest, youngest, best wrinkles and curliest tail. "Silly-Pug-Tricks" is a great way to show off the talent, and as always, there is the Costume Competition!

The "Run for the Cheese Race" has to be the most popular event. Yielding to pug pressure, there will be races for different age groups. Last year, over 150 pugs from Syracuse to Scranton were in attendance. Many have been training all year with hopes of returning to defend their titles. Come to
the park and cheer them to victory!

Chestnut Ridge
The NNJPE Pugs and Kisses Valentine's Meetup!
February 3, 2007
10:30 am
269 Red Schoolhouse Road
Chestnut Ridge, NY 10977
Phone:845-371-4000
Map
Comments:Hello all!

Due to the questionable weather this time of year (you know, 20 degrees one day, 75 degrees the next :), we will once again host the meetup at Best Friends Pet Resort, Chestnut Ridge, NY. The special theme, in honor of Valentine's Day, will be "Pugs and Kisses", and without disclosing too much about the fun festivities, there will be drawings for gifts, music to get everyPug "in the mood", and by special request, a little something for all of the single Pugs out there desperate for a little "tail"...a session of *spin the bottle* and *Pug Twister*, along with slow dancing nose to butt under the glow of a mirrored disco ball (okay...well, perhaps the gifts and music will suffice...). Additionally, for anyone who would like to participate, we will have a little "theme appropriate" costume contest as well; be sure to dress your Puglet in their Valentine's Day best!

For those of you who haven't yet attended an event at Best Friends, here is some additional information: Chestnut Ridge is right across the Montvale, NJ border, and is approximately 20-25 minutes Northeast of the Ridgewood Dog Run, where we've held the majority of our previous meetups.) It's a newer, impeccably clean, very nice establishment, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff (Subliminal message: Matt and his crew really rock!!!) The large room that we will occupy is utilized during the workweek for doggie daycare, so you can be sure that it will be Pug friendly! If you are in need of a top-shelf kennel for your Pugster (or any other four-legged family member, for that matter), you will be welcome to tour the facility while you are there...

No "secret handshake" will be necessary to enter; just mention the *passwords* "I am here for the NNJ Pug Extravaganza" to the receptionist at the front desk, and they will direct you to the appropriate room.

So, don't be a square; get into the groove and join us for a great time!

Hope to s

Comments:Staying true to our word, Skybark, your favorite pet-friendly party locale, is still invading New York City and setting off the celebration surrounding Westminster 2009. Amid the torrential economic climate, other events have fallen by the wayside and Skybark stands proud as the unwavering source for pet friendly night life festivities for your Westminster experience. We?re excited, elated and ready to show NYC how we do it Hollywood style. Skybark will be in full effect, Friday, February 6th at the Hotel Pennsylvania's Penn Top Ballroom. We will be rolling out the red carpet for you and your canine companions at 8 PM Sharp and the number of attractions Skybark is bringing on is, to say the least, impressive. The event will benefit Animal Haven, a no kill animal adoption center, shelter and sanctuary for displaced cats and dogs, so even the Tiny Tim?s of the pet world win.Located adjacent to Madison Square Garden, the prestigious Hotel Pennsylvania is a New York City institution that personifies the city?s style, essence and history. Glenn Miller played there and wrote the famous song and band number entitled ?Pennsylvania 6-500,? consequently the Penn?s phone number still reflects the song?s title. It?s tradition for the Hotel Penn to act as a media and social hub for Westminster. No matter where the exhibitors and spectators stay, they converge at the Penn for everything dog related. Skybark will transform the Penn Top Ballroom into the ?place to be? for anyone looking to bring their pets, cut loose, and have a great time before the Westminster Dog Show commences. The glamorous ballroom meets the high standards of Skybark and features immaculate views that look upon the Empire State Building and the marquis of Madison Square Garden. The Hotel has a large lower-level conference room that will be converted into an indoor bio-break facility for the competitors. The facility is referred to as ?the Green Room? and PETaPOTTY can be found there helping

Comments:New York--On June 11, 2006, at more than 300 homes, parks, and other venues nationwide, supporters of HSUS will be celebrating to urge Congress to protect our beloved pets during disasters. The parties will feature a conference call, which will begin at 7:30PM. Stray from the Heart dog rescue organization is hosting an event in New York City to help promote this important initiative and raise much needed funds for the HSUS lobbying arm, the Humane Society Legislative Fund now trying to help pass the PETS act. When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast last year on August 29, many evacuees faced a horrifying choice: abandon your animals and live, or stay together and face life-threatening risk. The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act calls for disaster plans to include pets and service animals that nobody wants to leave behind.

Their pugs are getting better- the one with the canine influenza is home and recouperating. They are blessed to have her still with them. In total, the vet bills from one pug is over $2200.00. They don't turn away any needy pug. Misty, their liver shunt puppy came to them from Maryland Pug Rescue and her first surgery was only partially successful so another will be needed in a month or two.
VERY SPECIAL GUEST: Nancy Levine, famous author and proud parent to Wilson and Homer the pugs, has arranged to join us here in New York City and sign books purchased during our meet to help us raise even more funds for Green Mountain Pug Rescue (www.greenmtnpugrescue.com)!

Comments:Hello all!

I hope all of your holiday plans are going well!

GREAT NEWS! I've secured a warm and wonderful indoor location for the first NNJPE meetup for 2007!

Best Friends Pet Resort in Chestnut Ridge, New York, has made one of their doggie playrooms available to us (Chestnut Ridge is right across the Montvale, NJ border, and is approximately 20-25 minutes Northeast of the Ridgewood Dog Run, where we've held the majority of our previous meetups.) It's a newer, impeccably clean, very nice establishment, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The large room that we will occupy is utilized during the workweek for doggie daycare, so you can be sure that it will be Pug friendly!

And if this isn't enough, in order to start the new year on the right *paw*, we will have a "guess the number of dog bones in the jar" contest! The individual who comes closest to guessing the correct quantity will win this Puglicious prize; a beautiful glass biscuit jar, hand-etched with a Pug and bone motif, and filled with Mr. Pugsley's Organic Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits (Brittany can attest to how yummy these cookies are)!

We are looking forward to seeing all of you once again in 2007!

Until then,happy holidays to all!
Please try to make this event. Will be lots of puggie fun.
