The volunteers of The Sato Project are the only source of food, fresh water, and love for the dogs of Dead Dog Beach. Since its inception in November 2011, The Sato Project has rescued, vetted, rehabilitated and adopted out over 500 of these dogs. Pug Rescue of Central New York will be on hand with wonderful items and
exciting raffles, but most important, education for owners about Pug maintenance and care.

Locals will recognize Jan from their favorite store PetTracks and look forward to the return of Lisa from LuvPug Greetings. From nutrition to notions, jewelry to scarf sets, these vendors will have every item the pug-lover needs.

After the introduction parade, there will be prizes for the oldest, youngest, best wrinkles and curliest tail. "Silly-Pug-Tricks" is a great way to show off the talent, and as always, there is the Costume Competition!

The "Run for the Cheese Race" has to be the most popular event. Yielding to pug pressure, there will be races for different age groups. Last year, over 150 pugs from Syracuse to Scranton were in attendance. Many have been training all year with hopes of returning to defend their titles. Come to
the park and cheer them to victory!

Chestnut Ridge
The NNJPE Pugs and Kisses Valentine's Meetup!
February 3, 2007
10:30 am
269 Red Schoolhouse Road
Chestnut Ridge, NY 10977
Phone:845-371-4000
Map
Comments:Hello all!

Due to the questionable weather this time of year (you know, 20 degrees one day, 75 degrees the next :), we will once again host the meetup at Best Friends Pet Resort, Chestnut Ridge, NY. The special theme, in honor of Valentine's Day, will be "Pugs and Kisses", and without disclosing too much about the fun festivities, there will be drawings for gifts, music to get everyPug "in the mood", and by special request, a little something for all of the single Pugs out there desperate for a little "tail"...a session of *spin the bottle* and *Pug Twister*, along with slow dancing nose to butt under the glow of a mirrored disco ball (okay...well, perhaps the gifts and music will suffice...). Additionally, for anyone who would like to participate, we will have a little "theme appropriate" costume contest as well; be sure to dress your Puglet in their Valentine's Day best!

For those of you who haven't yet attended an event at Best Friends, here is some additional information: Chestnut Ridge is right across the Montvale, NJ border, and is approximately 20-25 minutes Northeast of the Ridgewood Dog Run, where we've held the majority of our previous meetups.) It's a newer, impeccably clean, very nice establishment, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff (Subliminal message: Matt and his crew really rock!!!) The large room that we will occupy is utilized during the workweek for doggie daycare, so you can be sure that it will be Pug friendly! If you are in need of a top-shelf kennel for your Pugster (or any other four-legged family member, for that matter), you will be welcome to tour the facility while you are there...

No "secret handshake" will be necessary to enter; just mention the *passwords* "I am here for the NNJ Pug Extravaganza" to the receptionist at the front desk, and they will direct you to the appropriate room.

So, don't be a square; get into the groove and join us for a great time!

Hope to s

Comments:Staying true to our word, Skybark, your favorite pet-friendly party locale, is still invading New York City and setting off the celebration surrounding Westminster 2009. Amid the torrential economic climate, other events have fallen by the wayside and Skybark stands proud as the unwavering source for pet friendly night life festivities for your Westminster experience. We?re excited, elated and ready to show NYC how we do it Hollywood style. Skybark will be in full effect, Friday, February 6th at the Hotel Pennsylvania's Penn Top Ballroom. We will be rolling out the red carpet for you and your canine companions at 8 PM Sharp and the number of attractions Skybark is bringing on is, to say the least, impressive. The event will benefit Animal Haven, a no kill animal adoption center, shelter and sanctuary for displaced cats and dogs, so even the Tiny Tim?s of the pet world win.Located adjacent to Madison Square Garden, the prestigious Hotel Pennsylvania is a New York City institution that personifies the city?s style, essence and history. Glenn Miller played there and wrote the famous song and band number entitled ?Pennsylvania 6-500,? consequently the Penn?s phone number still reflects the song?s title. It?s tradition for the Hotel Penn to act as a media and social hub for Westminster. No matter where the exhibitors and spectators stay, they converge at the Penn for everything dog related. Skybark will transform the Penn Top Ballroom into the ?place to be? for anyone looking to bring their pets, cut loose, and have a great time before the Westminster Dog Show commences. The glamorous ballroom meets the high standards of Skybark and features immaculate views that look upon the Empire State Building and the marquis of Madison Square Garden. The Hotel has a large lower-level conference room that will be converted into an indoor bio-break facility for the competitors. The facility is referred to as ?the Green Room? and PETaPOTTY can be found there helping

Comments:New York--On June 11, 2006, at more than 300 homes, parks, and other venues nationwide, supporters of HSUS will be celebrating to urge Congress to protect our beloved pets during disasters. The parties will feature a conference call, which will begin at 7:30PM. Stray from the Heart dog rescue organization is hosting an event in New York City to help promote this important initiative and raise much needed funds for the HSUS lobbying arm, the Humane Society Legislative Fund now trying to help pass the PETS act. When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast last year on August 29, many evacuees faced a horrifying choice: abandon your animals and live, or stay together and face life-threatening risk. The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act calls for disaster plans to include pets and service animals that nobody wants to leave behind.

Festivities include breed specific playgroups, an adoption day with Animal Haven, a workshop at a nearby theater, an evening of paranormal events for pets and an art fair. All pet-friendly events will not be affected by rain or extreme heat as they are indoors in the AC.

The kickoff event will be on Thursday, June 15, from 6 PM until 8 PM when Downtown Doghouse will open its doors to Havanese and Maltese owners and their dogs for a group play date. The event is free to all, but reservations are strongly suggested as space is limited. Street Treats will be providing snacks for the pets and everyone will be sent home with goody bags.

BSL Protest & World-wide Vigil
July 23, 2009

New York, NY
Phone:
Map
Comments:Unfortunately, the idea of BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) in New York City has come closer to a reality, ever since the New York Housing Authority was able to enact their new law last month which forced pit bulls, rottweilers, dobermans and many other breeds from their homes in public housing. Miami, Detroit, Denver, and many other cities already have BSL laws in place. We need to make sure that New York knows that we will not stand for any BSL ordinance here. And we need to show the world that BSL will not be tolerated in any city, anywhere. In addition, we are using an example of one particular pit bull Bruce, from Northern Ireland, who has been on death row for nearly two years, while the court decides if he should live or die. Bruce's fate will be decided within weeks, or possibly days. He will be our "poster-child" for the protest. This protest will include a candlelight vigil at dusk for Bruce, as well as for all the dogs that have been killed by BSL ordinances. This is a global-wide vigil, and thousands of people from across the world are participating in this vigil, on this same evening. We hope to have hundreds of people at this protest/ vigil, so that we can truly make a difference in the lives of all animals.

Comments:All dog owners face challenges, particularly when their new dog is a young puppy. Stacy Alldredge will help owners face those challenges in her Puppy Manners Class, which will be held at Downtown Doghouse on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 7PM.?We are stylists, but we are frequently asked for advice about housebreaking, crate training, obedience, chewing? you name it.? Nancy Chinchar, owner of Downtown Doghouse, explained. ?We see many first time dog owners with their new puppies and they are overwhelmed. I want to help them get some relief.? Stacy Alldredge was also aware of the need for good puppy-raising advice. ?There are often more issues with puppy-raising than new dog owners anticipate. Sometimes people who are trying to train their pups on their own run into problem areas. I wanted to offer new dog owners real life strategies and answers to how to get their dog to be well-mannered and happy.? She stated. The class will be offered at 7PM on Tuesday, March 27th. It will cover nipping, chewing, jumping, preventing aggression and anxiety, housetraining ? from crate to freedom, diet and exercise, and the misuse of corrections. There will be significant time allotted for questions and answers. Attendance at the seminar will be limited to 10 people (and their social dogs) so that each student can obtain the personal attention his situation requires.

Comments:At this time of Thanksgiving, our pugs give thanks that they are happy, healthy and living in their forever homes. Others are not so lucky. Green Mountain Pug Rescue has had a rough 2005. Their pugs are getting better- the one with the canine influenza is home and recouperating. They are blessed to have her still with them. In total, the vet bills from one pug is over $2200.00. They don't turn away any needy pug. Misty, their liver shunt puppy came to them from Maryland Pug Rescue and her first surgery was only partially successful so another will be needed in a month or two.
VERY SPECIAL GUEST: Nancy Levine, famous author and proud parent to Wilson and Homer the pugs, has arranged to join us here in New York City and sign books purchased during our meet to help us raise even more funds for Green Mountain Pug Rescue (www.greenmtnpugrescue.com)!

We are thrilled to be able to have with us the art Exhibit "Puppies are Biodegradable" http://www.puppiesarebiodegradable.com Unspeakable violence is taking place in Puppy Mills - the show consists of original artwork created especially in support of the cause. Come and meet the amazing gentlemen from Rescue Ink http://www.rescueink.com and hear about their efforts to rescue dogs wherever they need their help. The main thing that brings them together is their love of animals. They met because they were all doing the same thing in their spare time: rescuing and finding homes for abandoned and abused animals.

Comments:Hello all!

I hope all of your holiday plans are going well!

GREAT NEWS! I've secured a warm and wonderful indoor location for the first NNJPE meetup for 2007!

Best Friends Pet Resort in Chestnut Ridge, New York, has made one of their doggie playrooms available to us (Chestnut Ridge is right across the Montvale, NJ border, and is approximately 20-25 minutes Northeast of the Ridgewood Dog Run, where we've held the majority of our previous meetups.) It's a newer, impeccably clean, very nice establishment, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The large room that we will occupy is utilized during the workweek for doggie daycare, so you can be sure that it will be Pug friendly!

And if this isn't enough, in order to start the new year on the right *paw*, we will have a "guess the number of dog bones in the jar" contest! The individual who comes closest to guessing the correct quantity will win this Puglicious prize; a beautiful glass biscuit jar, hand-etched with a Pug and bone motif, and filled with Mr. Pugsley's Organic Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits (Brittany can attest to how yummy these cookies are)!

We are looking forward to seeing all of you once again in 2007!

Until then,happy holidays to all!
Please try to make this event. Will be lots of puggie fun.

Amid the torrential economic climate, other events have fallen by the wayside and Skybark stands proud as the unwavering source for pet friendly night life festivities for your Westminster experience. We?re excited, elated and ready to show NYC how we do it Hollywood style. Skybark will be in full effect, Friday, February 6th at the Hotel Pennsylvania?s Penn Top Ballroom. We will be rolling out the red carpet for you and your canine companions at 8 PM Sharp and the number of attractions Skybark is bringing on is, to say the least, impressive. It?s to benefit to Animal Haven, a no kill animal sanctuary for cats and dogs, so even the Tiny Tim?s of the pet world win.Located adjacent to Madison Square Garden, the prestigious Hotel Pennsylvania is a New York City institution that personifies the city?s style, essence and history. DOG HALLOWEEN PARTY WITH ANIMAL HAVEN SHELTER

New York, NY -- Downtown Doghouse will host its third annual Doggy Halloween Party in partnership with Animal Haven Shelter on Sunday, October, 30, 2004 from 11 AM until 6PM. According to owner, Nancy Chinchar, ?Approximately 200 people and their pets attended this day-long event last year, so this year Downtown Doghouse plans to use some of that momentum to help Animal Haven in their mission to raise awareness and funds for the animal victims of Katrina.? The day-long party will consist of fun, fund-raising and pet adoptions.

Admission to the Downtown Doghouse Halloween Party is free. Dogs can play ?Bobbing for Hot Dogs,? feast on a variety of gourmet snacks, and take home ?Doggy Bags? filled with healthy snacks and dog food samples. All dogs in costume will be eligible to enter their names in a raffle for three prizes, which will be drawn at the end of the party.

Attendees to the Downtown Doghouse Halloween party can find out what their pet really thinks from our pet psychic. Visits with the psychic are a discounted price of $15 for 15 minutes for this special event. It is highly recommended that appointments with the pet psychic be made in advance as she has been booked solid in both of the past two years.

During the party, guests will have the opportunity to meet dogs and cats that are up for adoption in Animal Haven?s mobile adoption van. A portion of all proceeds made during the party will be donated to Animal Haven and earmarked towards the care of the pets from the Gulf.

Downtown Doghouse?s Doggy Halloween Party has been featured in the New York Daily News as one of the ?Top 31 Things to Do in NY on Halloween.?
