Brown County Fairgrounds
De Pere, WI 53703

Map
Comments:Highlights of the day include lure coursing, where energetic Boxers can hit top speeds in a safe and fun exercise environment; a hygienically-challenged "best kiss" contest; and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluations by Kim Waugus, a certified American Kennel Club CGC evaluator and director of the Dodge County Humane Society. The event also offers numerous educational opportunities for pet lovers including a lecture on alternative treatments for animals, basic dog training instruction and a special presentation on child and canine rearing called "Kids + Dogs = Harmony," demonstrating why having kids and dogs isn't necessarily mutually exclusive.
Pet owners who want to attend the Boxer Bash are welcome to bring dogs, but organizers ask them to use a regular leash and not a flexi-lead. Attendees are also discouraged from bringing puppies to the event, though dogs of all breeds that have received a full series of vaccinations are welcome.
In addition to the Boxer-centric activities taking place at the event, there will be shopping opportunities for owners including a bake sale and food center, canine outfitters and stylists, pet portrait artists and ice cream provided by Coldstone Creamery. Representatives from other Wisconsin Dog Rescue organizations will be on hand to provide information on additional breeds in need of rescue across Wisconsin, including Shelties, Weimaraners and Shih Tzus.
To help the group cover event costs and raise funds for its statewide animal rescue efforts, there is a $5 per individual/$10 per family admission fee.

Celebrity judges will determine best costume, best trick, cutest dog and a dog/owner look-alike competition among others. Local businesses will offer information on dog training, breed clubs and the latest in canine products and health services. For an additional fee, dogs can enjoy the thrill of the chase as they zigzag through one of two fully fenced-in lure courses. There are also a variety of "games" for the dogs to play (for a small fee) where they can win fantastic prizes.
The event has raised thousands of dollars to make improvements to Washington Park and has hosted nearly one thousand dogs in its first three years! Call 414.475.9072 for more details. It is coordinated by Neighborhoods United for Washington Park, a non-profit group of volunteers who work to raise awareness and funds to protect and restore Washington Park in Milwaukee.
