All of the stores listed below allow your best friend of ANY size inside
the store, as long as they are well-behaved and leashed! If you know
of a store which welcomes dogs, send
us an email and we'll post it here. Please
note: Almost every pet store will allow your
dog inside, therefore we do not list pet stores on this page.
Dog-Friendly Nationwide Stores
Nieman Marcus
(upscale department store)
Not sure if they have a formal policy, but the stores we have called
all say that well-behaved dogs are allowed inside. However, if a store
is located in an indoor mall, it might be tricky getting inside to the
Nieman Marcus store. You might want to call ahead and make sure they
have a separate outside entrance where you can enter into the store.
Nordstrom
(upscale clothing store)
They do not have a formal pet policy, but dogs are allowed on a case-by-case
basis. In most cases, if a dog is leashed and well-behaved, they are
allowed to shop inside the store. In addition, Nordstrom always allow
an aid dog into their stores to assist their disabled owner.
Saturn Car Dealerships
(auto manufacturer and maintenance)
One of our viewers told us that his local Saturn dealer encourages customers
to bring their dogs when they bring their cars in for maintenence/repairs.
We will try to talk with the Saturn headquarters and find out if this
policy is the same throughout the U.S. Until then, just ask your local
dealership if they are dog-friendly! Another viewer sent us an email
telling us that he has taken his dog to many dog-friendly Saturn dealerships.
NOT Really Dog-Friendly Nationwide Stores
Home Depot
(hardware supply store)
Many Home Depot stores used to be dog-friendly. However, we are receiving
more and more complaints from dog owners saying they have been asked
by clerks to leave the store if they have a dog with them. If you are
interested in taking your pooch to your local Home Depot, we recommend
calling ahead first to inquire about their policy about bringing dogs
into the store. Even so, some dog owners have found that not all employees
in the same store know if dogs are allowed.
