Top Dog-Friendly
Restaurants These restaurants
definitely worth a visit when you're in the area
Having just returned from a trip visiting 30 states
and two Canadian provinces we had the opportunity to
sample a large array of outdoor restaurants with our
dog. While many cities had a number of options we
found that a number of top restaurants stand out. Here
are some restaurants that are definitely top of the
line for people traveling with dogs.
- Sam
Snead's Downtown Restaurant (Orlando, FL) -
This is the restaurant at which former Florida
Governor Jeb Bush signed Florida's doggy dining law
two years ago. The patio overlooks Lake Eola and the
fountain in its center. They welcome your dog with
water and a special doggy menu served on a frisbee and
top of the line food and service for the people in
your party as well.
- Jordon
Pond House Restaurant (Acadia National Park,
ME) - Located in the center of dog-friendly Acadia
National Park this top of the line restaurant serves
you and your dog at its spacious outdoor tables. The
tables sit on a large grass field overlooking Jordon
Pond and the Mountains of Acadia. Water is provided
for your dog and there are numerous hiking trails
nearby for you and your leashed dog. There is an
off-leash area nearby as well. Parking can be a
problem during busy seasons.
- Portabella
(Carmel, CA) - Located in one of the most dog-friendly
cities in America this restaurant will provide water
for your pup on either their open patio in the front
or their covered and heated patio that is great
for inclement weather. The restaurant
serves top of the line food from France, Italy and
Spain. The dog-friendly Carmel City Beach is located
blocks away.
- The
Park Bench Cafe (Huntington Beach, CA) -
This dog-friendly breakfast and lunch spot is located
in Huntington Beach's Central Park. With many outdoor
tables and a doggy menu to choose from this restaurant
is a great place to stop for breakfast after a walk in
the park. Huntington Beach Dog Beach and an off-leash
park are nearby.
- Mi
Cocina (Dallas, TX) - Part of a regional
chain of Mexican restaurants this dog-friendly
restaurant has a well-enclosed and heated outdoor area
for you and your dog to stay warm and dry. This
restaurant is located in the Uptown area of Dallas.
- The
Boathouse (St Louis, MO) - This restaurant
is located in Forest Park and sits alongside the pond
where you can rent paddleboats or rowboats. It has a
covered outdoor seating area with heaters and has
outdoor entertainment on occasion. Your dog can stay
busy on the deck watching the ducks waddle around. The
boathouse has an annual dog event in the summer.
