Back in 1893, the famous Ghirardelli chocolate factory occupied these buildings. Today, it is a popular shopping center with numerous shops including the dog-friendly Beastro By the Bay (your dog is welcome inside this unique animal motif gift store). At Ghirardelli Square, you and your pup can take the self-guided outside walking tour and learn about the area's history. Just pick up a free map at the information booth at the west end of Fountain Plaza.
