Named after the conquistador they believed passed through here looking for the 7 golden cities of Cibola, this 210 acre park is also home to the pueblo ruins of Kuana. The reconstructed kiva, visitor center, and interpretive trail tells the story of the ancient agriculturists who once thrived along these banks of the Rio Grande River. Dogs of all sizes are allowed for no additional fee. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after. The camp area offers great views of the Sandia mountains and the Rio Grande Valley, sheltered picnic areas, and restrooms. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground.
