Athabasca Glacier
Athabasca Glacier H 93 Jasper, Alberta
780-852-6176 Get Map or Directions
Noted as the most-visited glacier on the North American continent, the Columbia Icefield is what remains of what was once a dense ice mass that covered most the country's western mountains and is the largest such site in the Canadian Rockies. It has also left a moonscape-like scene in its receding. The field is 103Km south of Jasper; an information center is along the way on the left and there is signage for a right turn to go to the Toe-of-the-Glacier and parking. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
