Childs Glacier Cordova River Road H/ H10 Cordova, Alaska

Located in the Chugach National Forest, this is one of the states most active and dramatic roadside glaciers as it gives visitors a great viewing platform to its massive size (300 feet high) and consistent calving; some break-offs creating 10 foot high (30 ft was once reported) waves that have been known to quickly cross the Copper River and leave salmon on the forest floor. It is for this reason they ask visitors to not go below the platform. Dogs on leash are allowed on the grounds and platform; they must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times.
