This rails to trails pathway is located below Vulcan Park and traverses through the unique geological site of Red Mountain - a mountain rich in iron ore. The need for iron resulted in the L&N Railroad. A Vulcan Statue - the Roman God of Forge, located at the Red Mountain Gap, stands as a testament to Birmingham's industrial heritage. Dogs are allowed on the trail; they must be leashed and cleaned up after.
