Surround Yourself with Water. Cross the bridge or take a ferry to the peaceful community of Dauphin Island. Located three miles south of the mouth of Mobile Bay, this barrier island provides the perfect getaway for you and your four-legged friend from the stresses of commercial and corporate life. The island's most redeeming quality is its emphasis on low-key, family oriented vacations. Forget road congestion, water parks and outlet malls - the island doesn't even have need for a traffic light. Instead, envision bike paths, walking trails, miles of dog-friendly, white sandy beaches and simplicity centered upon outdoor recreation.

Fort Gaines
Surround yourself with history at Fort Gaines. Completed in 1861visitors delight at this site of the Battle of Mobile Bay. Explore the grounds while hearing stories of yesteryear, watch live reenactments, see a blacksmith demonstrate his craft, and walk your pet through this historic military base. Please be sure to clean up after and leash your pet at all times.

Dauphin Island Campground
Surround yourself with friends at the Dauphin Island Campground. With our spacious wooded sites, complete with picnic tables, free boat launch, a boardwalk to the beach and hookups to accommodate tents or RVs. The grounds have a dog walk area to allow your pet to explore their new environment. There are a few marked areas your pet isn't allowed, but there are plenty more areas they can walk around. Please be sure to clean up after and leash your pet at all times.

Dauphin Island Beaches
Surround yourself with warm rays as soft, white, sugar sand squishes between your toes and the inviting waters of the Gulf of Mexico lap at your feet. These public beaches are some of the most pet-friendly around. Your dog can play in the water, run along the pier, or discover undeveloped areas of the beach. These areas can be found near the beach access at the pier and schoolhouse. Make sure to clean up after and leash your pet at all times.

Dauphin Island Parks
Surround yourself with nature. The island holds many parks that host various events throughout the year that you and your pet are welcome to enjoy with the island community. These parks run along Bienville Blvd and are open year-round. There are a few marked areas your pet isn't allowed, but there are plenty more areas they can walk around. Be sure to clean up after and leash your pet at all times.
