Annie, the Railroad Dog, was adopted by the Colorado and Southern Railway people in 1934. She was sick and was nursed back to health at the railway depot. For years she remained at the depot, greeting trains and visitors. Annie died in 1948 and was buried a few yards from the depot. There is a statue of Annie in front of the library at 201 Peterson St. The gravesite is at the nearby intersection of Mason Street and LaPorte Avenue. The site is designated a national landmark. Both you and your dog can view the statue and gravesite of Fort Collin's most famous dog.
