This long distance, maintained hiking footpath covers almost 114 miles from the Metacomet Trail at the Connecticut state line to Mt. Monadnock in NH., and passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the state. It is maintained by the Appalachian Mountain Club. The trails are marked, but they suggest buying a trail guidebook (can be ordered from website) to use in addition to the excerpts of information on the web. Dogs are allowed on this trail. They must be under their owner's control at all times, leashed, and cleaned up after.
