This Rail-to-Trails pathway stretches 16 miles through a prairie preserve and a wildlife management area, and takes its hikers on trip down memory lane with kiosks that details the history of the area. Two other trailheads provide parking at 7902 SE 200th Drive, off of H 2082 west of Hawthorne, and at 2182 SE 71st Avenue in Hawthorne. Primitive restrooms are available at mile markers 1.0 and 6.6. Well behaved dogs are allowed; they must be on a hand-held leash that is no longer than 6 feet long and cleaned up after promptly.
