This park is open from 8 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. Visitor center/museum hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Designated a National Historic Landmark, this 61-acre, pre-Columbian, Native American site has six burial mounds, temple/platform mounds, a plaza area, and the site contains domestic refuse and ancient household artifacts, indicative of long-term human occupation. The park also sits on the edge of an expansive coastal marsh for saltwater and freshwater fishing, and it is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no additional fee. Dogs must be on a 6 foot leash or a retractable leash, and they must be cleaned up. Dogs on lead are allowed on the trails.
