Rich in natural, cultural, and military history, this is the site of the states 2nd largest Civil War battle and also the only Confederate capital not captured by the Union that sat east of the Mississippi. In addition to reenactments held every March, the park offers a beautiful site for picnicking. Well mannered dogs are welcome in the park; they must be on no more than a 6 foot hand held leash and be cleaned up after promptly. Dogs may not be left unattended.
