Fort Pulaski National Monument
Fort Pulaski National Monument On H 80E Fort Pulaski, Georgia
31410 912-786-5787 Map
Rich in military history, the bombardment of this island fort, and it subsequent surrender as a result of destruction from cannon fire, caused the cessation of building forts with masonry. There are interpretive programs, miles of lush walking trails through more than 5000 acres of coastal marshlands, a 150 year old lighthouse, and an abundance of wildlife. Dogs are allowed throughout the grounds; they must be leashed and under their owner's control at all times.
