There are 2,526 natural acres with 206 American Indian mounds at this beautiful site located along the Mississippi River just off the Great River Road (a National Scenic Byway). Many of the mounds are in shapes of bears and birds. Considered to be a sacred site, trails give access as there are no roadways available in the park, and there are ranger activities and special events offered during the year. Leashed dogs are allowed in the park, and they ask that visitors bring there own doggy clean up bags.
