Open from sunrise to sunset, this doggy play area offers separately fenced and grassy sites for large and small dogs with more amenities to be implemented in the future. There is also a pond on site, but they say to let your dog use at your own risk as it is an untreated pond. Dogs must have a valid Facility Use Permit Tag attached to their collar and visible at all times; they can be obtained at the Ankeny Parks & Recreation office (210 S. Ankeny Blvd., 963-3570) or City Hall (410 W. 1st St., 965-6400). Dogs must be healthy, sociable, current on all vaccinations and license with tags on collar, and under their owner's control at all times. Owners must clean up after their pets, and keep them leashed when not in designated off-lead areas.
