Located in Hell's Canyon by way of Heaven's Gate, this is one of 3 routes to the edge of the canyon. This short path winds to the Heaven's Gate Lookout and an incredible four state vista with several impressive points of interest. The Forest Road 517 is a steep gravel road that climbs from 2,500 feet to 7,200 feet and is not viable for large trailers or trucks. Dogs are permitted at the look-out point and at stops along the way. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.
