Rich in natural and cultural history, this park is commemorated as the "doorway to the West", as it marks a major break in the formidable Appalachian Mountains. Within the park you will find a number of recreational pursuits and over 70 miles of trails. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no additional fee. Dogs may not be left unattended unless they will be quiet and well behaved. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after. Dogs are allowed on the trails. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground. There are no water hookups at the campground.
