Traveling north of the falls on the Mississippi River became a reality after this lock and horseshoe shaped dam were built; the lock itself is 56 feet wide by 400 feet long with a 49 foot lift. There are plenty of green areas and trails to explore here as well. Dogs are allowed on all the byways; they are not allowed in buildings. Dogs must be leashed, cleaned up after, and under their owner's control at all times.
