This historic site has remained much the same since the epic mid-1800s battle that was fought here; it was the first major Civil War battle west of the Mississippi River. In addition to numerous artifacts, and the Hultson Library - containing about 6,500 volumes of Civil War facts, the park also has several trails and a tour road with interpretive signage. Dogs are allowed throughout the grounds; they are not allowed in buildings. Dogs must be leashed and under their owner's control at all times.
