A National Historic Site and located on the Lewis and Clark trail, it's easy to see why this mountain top got its name-the cone that it forms is about 70 feet taller than the hills around it. In 1804 when Lewis and Clark stopped here they come across a large colony of "barking squirrels"-later to become known as the Prairie Dog. Leashed dogs are allowed on site, and there are plenty of places to hike and explore.
