This reconstructed 19th century settlement is an outdoor living history museum on the site where the building of the canal began, and there are 3 museums; The Erie Canal Museum, The Harden Museum, and the Museum of Cheese in addition to several other typical structures of the era. Well behaved dogs are allowed to explore the grounds, but they are not allowed in the buildings. Dogs must be friendly toward other dogs and people, under their owner's control, leashed, and cleaned up after at all times.
