Located in Hyde Park along with 2 other National Historic Sites; F. D. Roosevelt's home and Mrs. Roosevelt's country cottage, Val-Kill, the Vanderbilt Mansion and surrounding property is a significant historic reflection of American industrialization after the Civil War. Although dogs are not allowed in the mansion or any other estate buildings, they are allowed to explore the meticulously kept grounds (open daily from 7 am to sunset), hike along old carriage trails or to the Hudson River, or picnic at the Overlook. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times.
