Map
South Street Seaport, located on Lower Manhattan's historic waterfront, is a community with a maritime museum, great views, shops, cafes and restaurants. This seaport area was a world popular port town between 1815 and 1860. While dogs are not allowed inside the museum, you and your leashed pooch can walk around and explore the seaport, and enjoy the views. Pets are allowed at some of the outdoor restaurants like Il Porto and Heartland Brewery & Beer Hall. If you are coming from New Jersey, you can drive, or take the dog-friendly Seastreak Ferry which allows leashed dogs of all sizes. Dogs need to stay on the outside portion of the ferry, not inside. Or to reach the seaport by car from the West Side, George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, take West Street south. Follow the signs to FDR Drive. Take the underpass and keep right. Take Exit 1 a tthe end of the underpass. Turn right on South Street and go six blocks. For the East Side, take FDR Drive south to exit 3 onto South Street. Go for about a mile on South Street. There are over 3,000 parking spaces in paid lots within a six block radius. For details about parking or for rates, call Edison Parking at 212-732-2670.
