The Lancaster Historic District is over 24 city blocks and contains 89 historically significant buildings. The district is also on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can take a self-guided walking tour of the Square 13 Historic District. Pick up a copy of a 45 minute audio tape which is available at the Fairfield County Convention and Visitors Bureau or at Shaw's Inn. There is no charge for the tape. Pets need to be leashed and remember to clean up after them. The visitor's bureau is located at 1 North Broad Street in Lancaster, behind the Sherman Statue. They are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
