When Danish immigrant Peterson came to America at 17 he started collecting all kinds of colorful local rocks from the area of his home. It resulted in an amazing 4 acre park featuring miniature bridges, towers, terraces, and replicas of historic buildings created out of rock and petrified wood. There is a museum featuring a variety of rock specimens, and picnic sites are available on the grounds. Well behaved dogs of all sizes are allowed. Dogs must be leashed at all times and properly cleaned up after. They are allowed throughout the park and on the trails, but not in the buildings. The museum is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and the park is open from 9 am to sunset.
