The state's most popular recreation destination, there is an abundance of wildlife, plenty of water and land fun, a maritime forest, tidal creeks, a saltwater lagoon, an historic publically accessible lighthouse, and one of the longest public beaches in the low country can be found at this 5,000 acre semi-tropical barrier island park. Dogs are allowed throughout the park, on the beach, and at campground; they are not allowed in the cabin areas. Dogs must be on no more than a 6 foot leash and cleaned up after. The camp area offers a day use area, fire rings, picnic tables, showers, restrooms, a playground, store, concessionaires, a laundry, and a dump station. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground.
