The visitor center at Fort Negley, the largest fort built by the Union, offers a Heritage Trail Guide, maps, and film reflecting the Civil War history of Nashville. The fort can be seen from the observation deck at the top of the hill. The park, open daily from dawn to dusk, is accessible when the visitor center is closed. The center is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 9 am until 4:30 pm. Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds only; they must be under their owner's control at all times. Visitors are asked to bring their own waste collection bags to pick up after their pets.
