On Saturday August 18th, 2012 Amazing Pet Expos and a number of other sponsors will host the Austin Pet Expo from 10 am to 6 pm at the Palmer Events Center; this is a free entry event. Visitors will find a cornucopia of national and locally notable veterinarians, trainers, pet lover organizations, a variety of pet related retailers, groomers, author readings/signings, and live entertainment at this major pet expo. Some of the special activities include a pet talent contest, a costume contest, special guests, an agility course, and a mega-adoption event. Your canine companion is welcome to join you; however this is a crowded and at times a rather loud event with other dogs, children, wheelchairs, and other distractions, so dogs should be well socialized and hound and human friendly. Dogs must be on a lead no longer than 6 feet, and have proof of age-appropriate immunizations. Low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping are also available on site. Pet waivers are to be signed at the entrance or they can be pre-done via their website. The event is indoors with air conditioning, but it is a very large event so plan ahead for pups that may need a stroller or wagon. This event should be repeated annually so check the date for the current year.
