Blue Ridge Parkway Auto Tour Blue Ridge Parkway, Milepost 0 Waynesboro, Virginia
22980 828-271-4779 Map
More than 50 years in the making and setting standards in engineering and design along the way, there are thousands of recreational acres and exceptional scenery to explore as this rural parkway connects the Shenandoah NP with the Great Smoky Mountains NP (max speed limit is 45 MPH). Its natural and cultural history reveals itself as visitors drive through the 469 miles of the country's 1st (and longest) rural parkway, or by hiking its many diverse trails. Visitors will also pass over the Linn Cove Viaduct, considered to be one of the most complicated concrete bridges ever built at milepost 304.6. From May through October ranger programs are offered, and there are a number of campgrounds, trails, eateries, viewing areas, and historic/interpretive sites along the way. Dogs are allowed at all the camp areas and on all the trails. Dogs must be very well behaved, under their owner's control, on no more than a 6 foot leash or securely crated, and cleaned up after at all times.
