This forest is divided into 6 ranger districts and covers 2.2 million acres with a variety of trails totaling about 2,500 miles. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no additional fee. Dogs may not be left unattended, and they must be leashed and cleaned up after in camp areas. Dogs are allowed on the trails, but they are not allowed in public swim areas or any buildings. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground. There are no electric or water hookups at the campground.
