At this park, you can enjoy the historic nostalgia of California's State Capitol. The Capitol Building has been the home of the California Legislature since 1869. While dogs are not allowed inside the Capitol Building, you can walk up to it and around it on the 40 acres known as Capitol Park. This park is home to a variety of different trees from around the world. There is a self-guided tour that explains the origin of the trees and plants. Squirrels are also in abundance here, so be sure to hold on to the leash if your pup likes those little creatures. Capitol Park is located in downtown Sacramento at 10th and L Streets.
