Sunol Regional Wilderness
Sunol Regional Wilderness Geary Rd. Fremont, California
510-562-PARK
Map
This park is home to the Ohlone Wilderness Trail and Little Yosemite. The Wilderness Trail is at least 7 miles long in each direction. It spans the length of the park and connects up to the Mission Peak Regional Preserve. Hikers who cross into the San Francisco Water Department lands that connect Mission Peak Regional Preserve, Sunol, Ohlone Regional Wilderness and Del Valle Regional Park must carry an Ohlone Wilderness Trail map/permit. Little Yosemite is a scenic gorge on the Alameda Creek. It is open to the public through a lease agreement with the San Francisco Water Department, who owns the property. The Canyon View Trail is about 1.5 miles each way and leads into Little Yosemite. There are approximately 6-7 other popular trails ranging from 1.2 miles to over 7 miles. Dogs must be on leash in the parking areas, picnic areas, lawns and developed areas. Your dog can run off-leash on most of the trails, just make sure they are under voice control and you must carry a leash. Check with the ranger as to which trails require your dog to be leashed. To get there from the Fremont area, drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road. Turn right on Calaveras and proceed to Geary Road, which leads directly into the park.
