This is a summer only attraction. Dogs are allowed in the Gondola/Cable Car, but make sure your best friend is not claustrophobic. You can take the cable car from the parking lot (6,200 ft elevation) to High Camp (8,200 ft elevation). Once at the top, your well-behaved leashed pooch is welcome inside the lobby and the gift shop. Want some exercise? From High Camp, hike down the mountain along the ski path. Want a more strenuous hike? Try hiking up to High Camp. Squaw Valley is located off Hwy 89 on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe. Dogs are not allowed on the cable car on the 4th of July weekend because of the crowds and fireworks. Squaw Valley does have special events during the summer, like Full Moon Hikes and Stargazing at High Camp. Dogs are welcome at both events.
