Retro-style rooms, free Wi-Fi, an outdoor heated pool and Yerba Buena Gardens four blocks away make the non-smoking Best Western Americania a great pick for our guests. Housed in a four-floor white building with an inner courtyard, the Americania features retro mid-century, modern style in its public spaces and rooms, with references to pop culture and American pastimes. The 143 rooms feature bright colors, checkerboard carpets, ceiling fans and windows that open to fresh air and views of the surrounding neighborhood. Amenities include flat-panel TVs, iPod docks and free Wi-Fi. Heated outdoor pools in the city aren't all that common, but this hotel has one — and a sundeck too. Also on site are a burger restaurant, a lounge, laundry facilities, free computer kiosks and a fitness center. For a more scenic workout, get a bike on loan from the hotel and peddle around Frisco. Parking is available for a fee. The hotel is in SoMa, three blocks from BART. Yerba Buena Gardens is four blocks away, and the Museum of Modern Art is five blocks northeast of the hotel. Hop a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf at the Powell Street stop, five blocks away. It's 13 miles to San Francisco Airport. This hotel gives our guests "awesome" retro decor, "very friendly staff" and a refreshing pool to swim in, plus lots of amenities and a swell SoMa location near the cable cars.
