This 3.1 mile dirt trail winds along the ridge tops and shaded slopes, through old and new forest growths. The trail, located in the Eldorado National Forest at about 5,400 feet, is rated easy and offers great views of the Ice House Reservoir. Both hikers and mountain bikers use this trail. Dogs should be on leash and are allowed on the trail and in the water. To get there from Placerville, take Highway 50 east for 21 miles to Ice House Road turnoff. Turn left and go 11 miles north to the campground turnoff. Then go one mile to the campgrounds. The trail can be accessed from any of the Ice House Reservoir campgrounds or at the intersection of Road 12N06 and Ice House Road which is located about 200 yards north of the turnoff to Big Hill Lookout.
