This popular resort area is known for skiing in winter (both downhill and cross-country) and hiking and enjoying the four lakes along the June Lake Loop in the summer. These lakes are June Lake, Gulf Lake, Sliver Lake, and Grant Lake. There are a number of marinas at the lakes which may allow your dog on some of their boat rentals. This entire area is within the Inyo National Forest, which allows dogs throughout the forest on leash. Dogs are not supposed to swim in any of the lakes but they are allowed on leash up to them and on boats in the lakes. There are many hiking trails in the area, however, if you are planning a long hike make sure that you keep your dog out of land in Yosemite National Park, where dogs are not allowed. They need to stay in the National Forest.
