This observatory has been a major Los Angeles landmark since 1935. Star-gazing dogs are not allowed inside the observatory but may be on the lawns. Located across the parking lot from the Observatory is the Griffith Park snack shop and the Mt. Hollywood Trail (about 6 miles of dog-friendly trails). To get to there, take Hwy 5 to the Los Feliz Blvd exit and head west. Turn right on Hillhurst or Vermont Ave (they merge later). Go past the Bird Sanctuary and Greek Theater. Stay on Vermont Ave and you'll come to the Griffith Observatory.
