Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Calaveras Big Trees State Park Highway 4 Arnold, California
209-795-2334 Map
Just three species of redwood trees remain; the dawn redwood in central China; the coast redwood along the coast of northern California and southern Oregon; and the Sierra redwoods which grow at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and other widely scattered groves along the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. These redwood trees have evolved from the Mesozoic Era, the time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Dogs are not allowed on the trails, but are allowed on the dirt fire roads. There are miles of fire roads at this park. They are used by hikers, bicyclists and equestrians. Dogs must be on leash. The state park is about a 35 minute drive from Angel's Camp on Highway 4.
