This trail is about 1.5 miles long and involves an 800 foot climb. At the top of the trail you will see vistas of the coastline and inland mountain ranges. This trail is popular with hikers and mountain bikers. Pets are required to be leashed in the campgrounds. On the trails there is no leash requirement but your dog needs to be under direct voice control. There is a $1 day use fee. To get there, take Highway 101 to Redway. Go west on Briceland/Shelter Cove Road for 22 miles and then head south on Chemise Mountain Road for just over 1.5 miles. Trailhead parking is available at the Wailaki or Nadelos Campgrounds. Travel time from Highway 101 is about 55 minutes.
