This trail is located in the Inyo National Forest. It starts at an elevation of 10,300 feet and the first 1.5 miles of the trail goes up to 10,440 to Heart Lake. From there you can go several more miles up to elevations around 11,000 feet. At the campgrounds pets must be on a 6 foot or less leash. While hiking on the trails, pets must be on leash or under voice command at all times. Please clean up after your pets. To get there from Highway 395, exit at Tom's Place. Go up Rock Creek Canyon Road to the end, about 10 miles to the Mosquito Flat parking.
