American River Parkway various (see comments) Sacramento, California
916-875-6672
Map
The American River Parkway is a very popular recreation trail for locals and visitors. There are over 32 miles of paved and dirt paths that stretch from Folsom Lake in the Sierra Foothills to Old Sacramento in downtown Sacramento. It is enjoyed by hikers, wildlife viewers, boaters, equestrians and bicyclists. And of course, by dogs. Dogs must be on leash. There are various starting points, like the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area in Folsom or just north of downtown Sacramento. To start just north of downtown, take Hwy 5 north of downtown and exit Richards Blvd. Turn left onto Richards Blvd. Then turn right on Jibboom Street. Take Jibboom St to the parking lot.
