This site was one of ten camps where Japanese and Japanese American citizens were interned during World War II. It is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains and has been identified as the best preserved camp. Dogs are allowed at the site, on the self-guided walking tour which takes about 1-2 hours, and on the 3.2 mile self-guided auto tour. A tour description and map is available at the camp entrance. Pets must be on leash and please clean up after them. The park is open all year and there is no parking fee. It is located off Highway 395, 12 miles north of Lone Pine and 5 miles south of Independence.
