This day use park is one of the state's premier waterfowl refuges with hundreds of thousands of geese and ducks making their winter home here, and numerous other birds and mammals making it their home year round. The habitat consists of almost 11,000 acres of seasonal marsh lands, permanent ponds, and uplands. There are interpretive kiosks, a six mile auto tour, a two mile walking trail, and benches and restrooms outside the visitor center. Dogs of all sizes are allowed throughout the park and on the trails. Dogs must be under their owner's control at all times, and be leashed and cleaned up after.
